Salute 53 Recap

Salute 53 - Looking Back

Although it's been a little while now, I wanted to take a moment to look back on Salute 53.

It was my first time exhibiting Of Oil and Iron, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. After months of planning, printing miniatures, packing stock, and preparing the stand, it was incredibly rewarding to finally open the doors and share the game with everyone.

Whether you were an original Kickstarter supporter or someone discovering the project for the very first time, thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, watch a demo, or simply admire the miniatures. Meeting so many enthusiastic hobbyists throughout the day was easily the highlight of the event.

Going into Salute, I genuinely didn't know how people would respond to Of Oil and Iron. Seeing the excitement, hearing all the positive comments, and watching people connect with the dieselpunk setting gave me a huge confidence boost and motivation for the project. It confirmed that there really is an audience out there for gritty industrial mechs, and that's incredibly motivating.

The demo tables were busy throughout the day, and I was fortunate to have some fantastic friends helping run games and chat with visitors. I couldn't have done it without them, and I'm hugely grateful for all their support.

Below are a few snapshots from the event, from setting up the day before, to the crowds at opening, demo games throughout the day, and finally our exhausted (but very happy!) team photo at the end.

Looking back, Salute marked a real milestone for Of Oil and Iron. It was the first time the project had been showcased on such a large stage, and it left me more excited than ever for what's to come.

Thank you again to everyone who made the weekend so memorable. I hope to see many of you again at future events!

Cheers,

Scott
